Leveraging a proven experiential learning method honed over 80 years at Outward Bound schools worldwide, participants have embarked on an immersive learning journey under the guidance of Outward Bound Oman's skilled instructors. This transformative experience unfolds in the captivating and demanding setting of Jabal Akhdar.
The experience encompassed engaging discussions, group problem-solving activities, hiking, and camping, offering a platform for participants to develop and advance over the course of 4 days. The group also had the advantage of utilizing the flagship training facility in Jabal Akhdar.
Lahunna is under the patronage of Eng. Naashiah Al Kharusi, a distinguished figure in Omani politics and the telecoms sector. She served as a State Council member from 2011 to 2019, contributing her expertise to various social, economic, and legal committees. In her second term, she was elected as a member of the office of the Bureau of the State Council. Notably, she was also elected as the Vice Chairperson of the Women Parliamentary Office at the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Beyond her political career, Eng. Naashiah Al Kharusi made significant strides in the Omani telecoms sector while advocating for women's issues. Additionally, she held the role of President at the Omani Women Association for Muscat Governorate from 2012 to 2014.
In 1972, she embarked on her career journey by becoming the Assistant Director of Telecommunication Affairs at the Ministry of Communication. During this time, she played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Sultanate's inaugural national telecommunication infrastructure. Her dedication and expertise led to her appointment as the Telecom Policy Advisor to the Minister of Transport and Communications. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored with a significant appointment in 2002, designated as a member of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, as per Royal Decree No. 83/2007.
Eng. Naashiah was a pioneering founding board member of the Information Technology Authority until her retirement in 2011. Additionally, she was a board member of Omantel from its inception in 1975 until 2002. She made significant contributions, serving on the Executive Committee responsible for the restructuring of the telecom sector. Furthermore, she chaired the task force dedicated to the preparation of Omantel's privatization.
Lahunna was founded by Shatha Al Maskiry, a seasoned business consultant with over two decades of experience, having worked with leading global consulting firms such as Arthur Andersen and PwC. Her professional journey has taken her across the USA, UK, UAE, Yemen, China, and Hong Kong, providing her with a diverse international perspective. Presently, she is the Country Managing Director at Protiviti Oman, where she has been instrumental in driving the development and expansion of People, Culture, and Change initiatives throughout the Sultanate, including National Capacity Building.
Shatha is the driving force behind the design and execution of the Sidrah program, collaborating with experienced professionals who coach and mentor young women. Notably, in 2022, Shatha received the prestigious Excellence in Mentoring National Talent award from the Al Mar'a Excellence Awards in Oman, recognizing her dedication and impact in mentoring the nation's talent.
