Our Sidrah Story

Sidrah

TRUST YOUR ROOTS - REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL

ROOTS

*Powerful & Reliable *

Omani women, over millennia, have laid a solid foundation, rich in wisdom and adventure and tradition. Like the roots of the Sidrah tree. These roots anchor her through the storms of life, they are the source of inspiration and comfort, essential to her growth. They ground and nurture her as she rises into herself and discovers her unique potential in this world. They stretch out symbolizing the limitlessness of her existence, encouraging her to step forward into her best possible self: confident and secure.

BODY

*Dynamic & Collaborative*

The body is the powerful vehicle that bridges her glorious past to her promising future. She harnesses her individual feminine power, joins with her sisters to break down the barriers in structural power, creating an unbreakable link that enables them to unleash their collective will to drive progress. This woman proactively strives for her vision. She hears her roots whisper: “we’ve got you”, so she adjusts her mindset, echoes that message and colors it with her unique flare, declaring with confidence: “I am possible!”

HEAD WITH 5 LEAVES

*Limitless & Inspired*

Once she stands up in her truth she can bask in the fruits of her journey as a woman: a heightened self-awareness as her centering crown, sandwiched by resilience and a leadership mindset and identity, and ready to be of service having identified her higher purpose and the virtue of collaboration, to elevate herself and her community. Intrinsically, she knows where she came from and where she is headed.

She is SIDRAH, She is POSSIBLE

Unencumbered by doubt, a Sidrah alum is a transformed woman - with a head full of solutions, a belly hungry for a challenge, and a heart full of conviction. Together with her sisters, she can and will create a lasting impact by delivering a positive change.

Sidrah

Co-designed and co-run by Lahunna Oman and Outward Bound Oman, the Sidrah Youth Leadership Program was born to nurture the brilliant minds of young Omani women between the ages of 18-25 across the Sultanate of Oman from Musandam to Dhofar.

By channeling their youth energies in a holistic and dynamic learning program, Sidrah aims to increase self-efficacy, develop Tri-Sector (Private, Public and Non-Profit) knowledge and skills in alignment to Oman’s Vision 2040 so they can lead with full potential and become successful in any path they pursue be it as a mother, entrepreneur, public servant or a company leader.

Sidrah’s immersive experience aims to:

  • Heighten self-awareness
  • Nurture individual qualities of self-reliance and perseverance
  • Appreciate the value of teamwork, networking and effective collaboration
  • Instill leadership qualities
  • Unleash a sense of higher purpose

The program is a two phased approach:

Phase I focuses on experiential learning held at Outward Bound Oman’s Jabal Akhdar Training Centre for 4 days.

Phase II is an intensive 6 months of coaching in partnership with Singapore’s NYAA, the second largest National Award Authority in the world. Protiviti in Oman, a global firm also complements this Phase by spearheading the delivery of life skills, soft skills and leadership development. During this phase, participants are also mentored by Lahunna’s extensive network for inspiration, insights and professional development.

Sidrah's DNA inherently prepares the next generation in character development, service learning, civic engagement, and volunteerism by emphasizing on our Islamic values, social responsibility and citizenship.

Phase II

After successfully completing Phase I, the Sidrah Women are divided into two pathways:

Pathway A Tri-Sector:

Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship:

Hands-on training and imparting tri-sector knowledge to the Sidrah women to enable them to understand the fundamental links between public, private and non-profit sectors, as well as how to strategize in identifying and creating new opportunities as well as innovating when solving problems. Thematic white papers would be developed which will be directly linked to Oman’s Vision 2040.

Pathway B:

Values-Based Leadership:

To enable the young women to harness their strengths and unleash their full potential, we train and coach them to focus on skills for the future of work, which includes leading self, financial literacy, critical thinking, research & analysis, and problem solving.

This includes work ethics, self-love, emotional intelligence, how to develop an effective CV, how to be successful in job interviews, as well as helping them discover their leadership identity through effective collaboration, sound decision making and community building.

Behind the Story

Program Developers

Outward Bound Oman

Through the past 13 years from the establishment of Outward Bound in Oman, their courses helped more than 19,000 participants to realize their potential.

Using a proven experiential approach to learning that has been refined over 80 years at Outward Bound schools around the world, participants have gone through an immersive learning experience led by Outward Bound Oman’s talented instructors in the inspiring and challenging environment of Jabal Akhdar.

The experience included discussions, group problem solving activities, hiking, and camping, providing a platform for participants to grow and evolve over the 4 days. The group was also able to benefit from our newly opened flagship training facility in Jabal Akhdar.

Lahunna Oman

Lahunna is an initiative born in Oman with potential universal reach and application.

It aims to plant a seed to inspire, first locally, then regionally and internationally, the infinite possibilities of a woman’s value in society, which was achieved through showcasing the untold masculine perspective, either independently or alongside the feminine voice.

The unconventional charm of Lahunna is evident in the method of its presentation and its delivery.

Over the next 6 months, participants will be trained by its international partner, NYAA and seasoned bilingual trainers from the global consulting firm, Protiviti. They will also be mentored by Lahunna’s extensive network which includes former and present Parliamentarians, Ambassadors, Professors, CEOs, Entrepreneurs and Civil Society Leaders. The aim is to cultivate a sense of responsibility to themselves, society and the nation.

National Youth Achievement Award, Singapore

Officially launched in 1992 by the President of the Republic of Singapore, NYAA aims to provide young people with the opportunities and platforms to develop their potential with the long term objective of grooming them for service to the nation. To date, more than 600,000 young people have undergone the NYAA Program. Dr Charles Chao Rong Phua, CEO and Strategist-General of Solaris Strategies Singapore joined the participants on the Jabal Akhdar for 4 days, and will continue to work with them for the upcoming 6 months.
